Guitarist, ethnomusicologist, and film score composer Henry Kaiser has been at the forefront of avant-garde guitar since the 70s and his idiosyncratic playing can be heard on recordings with David Lindley, Andrea Centazzo, Eugene Chadbourne, Weasel Walte, Fred Frith, Herbie Hancock, Richard Thompson, John Zorn, Tisziji Munoz, and Wadada Leo Smith.
On Lions and Fireflies he accompanies American poet, songwriter, editor, artist, and environmentalist Michael Rothenberg. Inspired by the Japanese and Beat poets, Michael turns his observations of an often dark and despairing world into vignettes of hope and love. His prescient poetry covers everything from politics, environmentalism, US culture, Islamophobia, humanity, and ecology with great honesty, humour and beauty.
