Zagušljivi dim (Suffocating Smoke) is a trio hailing from Čakovec, Croatia, drawing inspiration from both the external world and 'our inner selves'.

Their music blends elements of psychedelia and minimalist music, producing extended, meditative pieces that emphasize texture and atmosphere over conventional song structures.

Their primary goal is to embark on a mantric musical odyssey that explores the marvelous, the eerie, the mysterious, and the seemingly familiar. The smoke represents the truths we articulate, transformation, and the transient nature of existence.

The new album represents several ideas. Concepts that are expressed metaphorically through symbolism and narrative. The grand illusion that once promised humanity now reveals its opposite, resembling an organism expelling toxins of excess.

What was intended to bestow us with humanity and wisdom has instead ensnared us in a velvet cage from which we cannot break free. What should have granted us freedom has instead turned us into mere shadows of ourselves. Enchanting rituals have been supplanted by consumerism, desire by hostility, and false connection throughisolation.

Where a sacred fireplace once stood, there now remains the ash of a manufactured Sun. What was once knowledge has been replaced by emptiness. May the memory of what we have lost—Life—emerge from the suffocating smoke."

Alienation as we find it in modern society is almost total… Man has created a world of man-made things as it never existed before. He has constructed a complicated social machine to administer the technical machine he built. The more powerful and gigantic the forces are which he unleashes, the more powerless he feels himself as a human being. He is owned by his creations, and has lost ownership of himself. - Erich Fromm
